The Central Government, in consultation with the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, has exempted the Directorate of Income-tax, Central Board of Direct Taxes from the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in so far as they relate to the benchmark disability of mental illness, in respect of the posts of Income-tax Inspector and Tax Assistant.
The exemption is provided considering the nature and type of work carried out by the income tax inspector and tax inspector.
