“Pioneering Urban Renewal: Amendments to Tamil Nadu Building Laws”

In a bid to streamline and enhance urban development initiatives, the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, undergo significant amendments. These changes, effective March 11, 2024, aim to modernize regulations governing construction practices across the state. This notification was published on March 11, 2024. 

Key alterations include adjustments to height specifications for non-high-rise structures, now allowing for buildings reaching up to 14 meters without necessitating specialized architectural oversight. Additionally, setbacks and regulations concerning rainwater harvesting have been revised to accommodate evolving urban landscapes while maintaining environmental sustainability.
