The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued a reminder to Producer, Importer and Brand Owner (PIBOs) registered during FY 2022-24 to file their Annual Returns (AR) for FY 2023-24 for the financial year 2023-24 by November 30, 2024.
Failure to comply with this deadline will result in the following consequences:
- The CPCB will automatically file the AR on behalf of the non-compliant entity.
- For the financial year 2024-25, the EPR target will be increased by 25% as a penalty.
This measure is aimed at ensuring compliance with the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, and promoting responsible plastic waste management practices. Timely filing of ARs is crucial for tracking the performance of PWMCs and PROs in meeting their EPR obligations.
