Pharmacy Institutions Must Acquire UIDAI-Whitelisted Devices

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a directive requiring all approved pharmacy institutions to implement the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS). This mandate, outlined in circular dated February 7, 2025, aims to ensure accurate faculty attendance and enhance transparency within pharmacy education.

In a follow-up announcement, the PCI has emphasized the urgency for institutions to procure AEBAS devices that meet stringent UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) whitelisting requirements. This ensures the devices are compatible with Aadhaar authentication.

Key Points of the Mandate

AEBAS Device Acquisition

All approved pharmacy institutions are required to purchase AEBAS devices as per the guidelines specified in PCI circular dated January 24, 2025. Institutions must adhere to the stipulated timeframe for procurement to facilitate smooth implementation.

UIDAI Whitelisting

Crucially, the purchased devices must be whitelisted on UIDAI servers to enable secure Aadhaar authentication.

DIGI-PHARMed Portal Updates

Institutions are obligated to upload details of their acquired AEBAS devices onto the dedicated AEBAS section of the DIGI-PHARMed Portal.

Central Portal Onboarding

The PCI will release further guidelines this month regarding the onboarding and registration of institutions onto its central portal. This process will include the publication of the domain URL, onboarding steps, and institution approval procedures. Institutions are strictly advised not to initiate onboarding on any other web portal or scheme.

Official Communication Channels

For any queries or issues related to AEBAS implementation, institutions are directed to contact the PCI via:

  1. Email: aebas.pci@gmailcom
  2. Telephone: 011-65218900 and 011-65218901

The PCI has stressed the importance of strict compliance with these directives to ensure the successful implementation of AEBAS across all approved pharmacy institutions. This initiative is expected to bring greater accountability and efficiency to faculty attendance management.
