The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a directive to all pharmacy institutions across the country, emphasizing the imperative need for strict compliance with its various Education Regulations. This call for adherence comes in light of legal requirements and issues that have arisen concerning the implementation of these regulations. This notification was issued on March 20, 2025.
The PCI’s directive references a series of previous circulars issued between December 2024 and February 2025, which pertain to the approval process for the academic session 2025-2026.
The PCI has specifically highlighted the critical importance of strict adherence to the following Education Regulations, with a particular focus on Faculty, Infrastructure, and Equipment:
ii) Education Regulations, 2020 for Diploma Course in Pharmacy,
iii) Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) Course Regulations, 2014,
iv) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) Course Regulations, 2014, and
v) Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) Regulations, 2014.
The PCI’s directive underscores the significance of these regulations in maintaining the quality and standards of pharmacy education in India. Strict compliance with these rules ensures that institutions meet the necessary requirements concerning qualified faculty, adequate infrastructure, and essential equipment for effective teaching and learning.
All pharmacy institutions are urged to take immediate note of this directive and ensure that they are fully compliant with the aforementioned Education Regulations. The PCI emphasizes that adherence to these regulations is crucial for the smooth functioning and approval of pharmacy programs across the country.
