The Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for universities to complete the academic curriculum and conduct final examinations for postgraduate broad specialty degree students who were admitted in the academic year 2021. This public notice is dated August 26, 2024.
It may be recalled that the PGMEB had modified the schedule for postgraduate broad specialty medical programs courses due to the pandemic. However, some universities were not adhering to the modified schedule. Hence, NMC had reminded universities to complete their academic curriculum and conduct exams for PG broad specialty degree students admitted in 2021 by December 31, 2024. This reminder was issued by a notice dated June 13, 2024.
In response to representations from some universities, the PGMEB conducted a meeting on July 31, 2024, to discuss the matter. Following the meeting, it decided to grant a further extension for the completion of examinations. Hence the deadline for completion of final examinations is now fixed as January 31, 2025.
This extension provides additional time for universities to complete the academic curriculum and ensure that students are adequately prepared for their final assessments.
