PCI Opens Portal for Approvals for 2024-2025

Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a notice on its approval process for academic year 2024-2025. The PCI has opened its portal for this purpose to pharmacy institutions. This notice was dated December 14, 2023.

PCI has opened its portal from December 14, 2023 till December 31, 2023. The portal can be accessed by new or existing institutions for applying for:

  • continuation of approval
  • introduction of new courses
  • increase in admissions
  • services

It is pertinent to note that the PCI offers the following services:

  • change in name of the institution
  • change of address/ location of the institution
  • change of examining authority
  • change of hospital
  • closure of course
  • closure of institution
  • change in name of trust/ society
  • change in contact details/ username
  • institution merger

The pharmacy institutions can avail these services in the service portal throughout the year. To avail these services, the pharmacy institution will be required to submit prescribed documents for the various categories of services.

The institution will have to apply on the PCI portal by selecting the appropriate scheme on the PCI website under the tab ‘Procedures/ Forms‘.

It is important to note that it is the responsibility of the institution to comply with the norms for teaching faculty, infrastructure, etc. as prescribed by various education regulations for already existing courses. Failure to adhere to these norms will lead to a rejection of the following applications:

  • continuation of approval
  • introduction of new courses
  • increase in admissions

PCI also has an ‘Approval Process Handbook’ that will be made available on its website.

Furthermore, it must also be noted that every student undergoing study in a pharmacy institution must be registered on the portal. Institutions must strictly comply with this requirement which will be subject to inspections.

Additionally, all faculties must also register in the new PCI Portal, under the Pharmacist Module. Upon registration, the faculties will have submit their pharmacist profile. All faculties must avail of services as faculty through the service module by logging in and filling the faculty related data.

PCI will start conducting inspections from December 15, 2023.
