The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has acknowledged issues faced by pharmacists attempting to register on the DIGI-PHARMed Portal due to an error message stating “PAN CARD/Aadhar Already Exists.” This problem arises when someone else has already used a pharmacist’s PAN or Aadhaar number to create a profile without their consent. This circular was issued on January 24, 2025.
In previous circulars dated December 27, 2024 and January 13, 2025, the PCI addressed concerns regarding blocked pharmacists and requested them to submit accurate information for new profiles.
The current issue prevents legitimate pharmacists from registering due to duplicate PAN/Aadhaar entries.
Addressing the Problem
The PCI has established a process to resolve this issue:
Pharmacists facing registration problems due to the “PAN CARD/Aadhar Already Exists” error can submit their details through a Google Form.
A downloadable declaration form (Annexure 1) needs to be completed and submitted through the pharmacist’s institution on official letterhead. This declaration should be accompanied by the pharmacist’s latest self-attested documents (signature and authorization date must be later than January 23rd, 2025).
What to Remember
- This issue affects pharmacists who are unable to register due to someone else misusing their PAN/Aadhaar information.
- The PCI has established a grievance redressal process involving a Google Form and document submission through institutions.
- Timely action by pharmacists is crucial to resolve the issue and complete registration.
