The Government of Karnataka Vide Notification dated 17th October 2019 has made the provisions of Payment of Wages Act 1936 applicable to employers and employees in all commercial establishments covered by the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961.
The Karnataka Government issued a prior notification on 12th October 2019, inviting all stakeholders to file objections and suggestions within three months regarding the extension of Payment of Wages Act to commercial establishments in the state. As no objections or suggestions have been received in this behalf by the state government, the scheme is proceeded with. All shops and commercial establishments covered under Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act shall comply with all provisions of Payment of Wages Act from now on.
