The Post-Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced the formation of Specialty Expert Committees (SECs) for each medical specialty listed in the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations-2023. This initiative aims to improve the quality and standardization of postgraduate medical education in India. This notice was published on January 31, 2025.
Responsibilities of SECs
These SECs will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
- Preparing a model curriculum for each specialty.
- Developing specialty-specific assessment forms for evaluating medical institutions.
- Addressing other academic requirements of their respective specialties.
Call for Faculty and Specialist Participation
The PGMEB is calling on faculty and specialists from across the country to participate in these committees. Eligible individuals include those working in private and government medical colleges, as well as Institutes of National Importance and NBEMS-recognized medical institutions.
How to Apply?
Interested faculty and specialists are requested to submit their details by February 15, 2025, through the online form provided by the NMC.
The formation of these SECs shall enhance the quality and uniformity of postgraduate medical education in India. NMC aims to develop standardized curricula and assessment methods, ensuring that medical graduates receive high-quality training and are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
