NMC reiterates the Importance of Valid MBBS Admissions

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public note highlighting that it must be noted that only students registered in the NMC portal will be deemed as valid admissions. This notice was dated December 5, 2023.

It may be recalled that in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Court of India, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had provided multiple extension in deadlines for admission to undergraduate courses for NEET UG 2023 eligible candidates. The public notices issued to this effect were dated November 9, 2023 and November 21, 2023.

These extensions were specifically related to Writ Petition (Civil) filed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for extension of last date for admission of under graduate course. It also includes the provision for a Special Stray Vacancy Round to fill vacant MBBS seats in both the All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota.

Thus, all relevant stakeholders have been duly notified regarding the extension of the last date for the admission of undergraduate courses. In addition, a Special Stray Vacancy Round has been initiated to fill the vacant MBBS seats in the All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota. Colleges and Directors of Medical Education (DMEs) have been expressly instructed to ensure that MBBS admissions align with the regulations set forth by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The colleges and DMEs are obligated to upload the names of admitted students onto the NMC portal to facilitate transparent and accountable record-keeping.

Crucial Information for Valid Admissions

It is imperative to note that only students registered in the NMC portal will be deemed as valid admissions. This registration is crucial for future eligibility for practicing allopathy in India. Admitted students must adhere to all criteria stipulated by the NMC, ensuring that they fulfill the requisite conditions as mandated periodically.
