The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive concerning the examination schedule for students admitted to postgraduate broad specialty courses in the academic year 2021. This public notice was issued on June 13, 2024 and published on June 18, 2024.
It may be recalled that pre-pandemic schedule for postgraduate broad specialty medical programs courses began the academic year on May 1st. Due to the pandemic, the NMC previously announced a modified schedule in January 2022 as follows:
- Academic session for 2021 admissions began February 1st, 2022.
- Diploma and degree programs must complete their curriculum by December 31st, 2023 and 2024 respectively.
- Students still need to complete the full program duration (36 months for degrees, 24 months for diplomas).
The NMC has received reports of some universities not adhering to this revised schedule.
Therefore, the NMC has issued a reminder all universities to follow the established schedule. This includes completing the academic curriculum and conducting exams for PG broad specialty degree students admitted in 2021 by December 31, 2024.
