NMC Invites Comments on the proposed draft for inclusion of Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in Medical Colleges

The National Medical Commission has issued a public notice inviting comments from stakeholders on the draft amendment in ‘Minimum Requirements for annual MBBS Admission Regulation, 2020’. The notice was issued on 14th December, 2022.

The proposed amendment seeks to compulsorily implement an Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) of National Information Centre (NIC). It will be applicable to faculties, tutors, demonstrators and senior residents.

The propsed amendment also states that in the absence of AEBAS, renewals, recognition or continuation thereof, increase in seats, establishment of new medical colleges or new PG course will not be permitted.

Additionally, sharing and access of AEBAS related staff information with the NMC would also be mandatory. This is intended to be achieved through the NMC’s AEBAS related dashboard.

Comments on the proposed draft amendment shall be made within 30 days of the present notice, I.e. before 13th January 2023. These comments shall be in the MS Word Doc file format. The inputs must be sent through email with the subject title: Comments on proposed draft amendment. The email shall be addressed to director.nmc@nmc.org.in.
