The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a press release on its virtual meeting with State Medical Councils (SMCs) on 9th October, 2023. The press release was issued on 9th October, 2023.
The discussion revolved around the following issues:
- Provisional registration of Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG) student for internships
- Delays in allocation of seats in medical colleges for FMG internships
- Discrepancies in temporary permission extensions by SMCs. It was clarified that SMCs must neither give temporary permission to foreigners nor extend time period of temporary permission given by Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB).
- Prioritising forwarding of FMGE qualified candidates’ data for verification with the National Board of Examination (NBE) to EMRB.
- Timely submission of quarterly data for updating in the Integrated Medical Records (IMR) system
- SMCs to send authenticated copies of documents to the EMRB signed in ink stamped on each page
