National Medical Commission has issues directive on Post-Graduate Medical Student Housing.
It is not obligatory for the students to reside in the hostels provided by colleges. Despite the clear directive, the NMC has received numerous complaints from post-graduate students alleging coercion by medical colleges/institutions to stay in designated hostels, accompanied by hefty charges.
These coercive acts may result imposition of punitive actions, including monetary ‘penalties, reduction of seats, or suspension of admissions of colleges by NMC.
