The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a clarification regarding document submission for applications to start new PG medical courses or increase existing seats. This clarification is dated April 10, 2024.
NMC has stated that during the application process it noticed that several medical institutions submitted Self-Assessment Forms (SAF) and compliance reports. These documents were based on the Minimum Standard of Requirements for Postgraduate Courses (PGMSR) 2023 document.
However, as per the official guidelines, these institutions were required to use documents based on:
- PG-Medical Education Regulation 2000
- Establishment of Medical Institutions, Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023
- Criteria mentioned in the public notice inviting applications on the NMC website dated August 16th, 2023
Therefore, the NMC is requesting all affected medical colleges and institutions to resubmit the following documents within seven days of this notice’s publication:
- Duly filled and signed Self-Assessment Forms based on PG-Medical Education Regulation 2000
- Compliance reports
Moreover, the resubmission should be done electronically through the authorized email addresses of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).
Hence, all concerned medical colleges shall resubmit their applications by April 17, 2024. This clarification ensures a consistent and standardized application process for establishing or expanding PG medical programs.
