NIFTEM Kundli Recognized as National Reference Laboratory for Fortified Foods

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has officially recognized the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Kundli, Haryana, as a National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for fortified foods. This order of recognition was issued on March 25, 2024.

This recognition, granted under Regulation 3 of the Food Safety and Standards (Recognition and Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018, is effective from the date of issuance of the order. This announcement is a continuation of the FSSAI’s efforts to establish a network of NRLs across India, as outlined in their Office Order dated August 25th, 2023.

NIFTEM Kundli, located in Sector 56, Sonipat, Haryana, will now serve as a key national reference point for all matters related to the testing and analysis of fortified foods. This designation highlights NIFTEM’s expertise and capabilities in this specialized area.

National Reference Laboratories play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of food testing in India. They act as authoritative sources for:
