The Ministry of Textiles on October 3rd 2024 issued the Ropes ad Cordages (Quality Control) Order 2024.
- Scope of Application
The order applies to specific goods outlined in the attached schedule but excludes products intended for export. This ensures that domestic markets adhere to quality standards while maintaining flexibility for exporters.
- Compulsory Use of Standard Mark
All specified goods must conform to their corresponding Indian Standards and carry the Standard Mark issued under a license from the BIS. This aligns with the Bureau’s Conformity Assessment Regulations to guarantee quality and safety.
- Certifying and Enforcement Authority
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority, ensuring compliance with the stipulated quality standards.

Effective Date: The order will come into force on April 1, 2025. However, for Small and Micro Enterprises producing domestically, the implementation date is extended to July 1, 2025.
