New Regulations for Electricity Grid Access Fees

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has introduced new regulations governing fees and charges for accessing the electricity grid. The regulations, effective from April 1, 2024, will apply to generating companies, distribution licensees, bulk consumers, and other grid users.

Under the new rules, entities seeking grid access will need to register with the respective Regional Load Despatch Centre (RLDC) or National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC). A registration fee will be applicable for this process.

The CERC has also outlined procedures for updating grid access information, including changes in generating capacity or transmission elements. Additionally, the regulations provide for de-registration of users in case of non-compliance with payment obligations.

The commission aims to streamline the grid access process and ensure fair and transparent fee structures through these regulations.
