NCT Delhi via a circular dated 24.05.2021, provides guidelines for immediate action to be taken for rehabilitation of COVID orphaned children. It must be ensured that such children are produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) within 24 hours. The CWC should ascertain immediate need of the child and pass appropriate orders for rehabilitation. If any child is restored to any kind of care, CWC should continue to regularly check the child’s
well-being. Information regarding any child who has lost both parents should be shared with Childline (1098). All responsibilities taken by the CWC should be in accordance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,2015. The District Magistrate should review the action taken regarding any such child and thereby submit a report to the State Government.
