The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is urging medical students to be cautious of misleading information circulating online. The NBEMS has issued this cautionary notice on July 3, 2024.
NBEMS has observed that unidentified individuals are using fake notices, emails, SMS, and social media content to impersonate the organization. These scams often involve false claims about the NEET-PG 2024 schedule or promises of better exam scores.
How to Spot a Scam?
Real NBEMS notices: Since July 2020, all official NBEMS notices include a QR code. Scan the code to verify if it leads to the genuine notice on the NBEMS websites. NBEMS has only two official websites; https://natboard.edu.in/ and https://nbe.edu.in.
NBEMS social media: NBEMS does not have any official social media accounts, including ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
How to Stay Safe?
- Ignore suspicious messages: Do not respond to emails, SMS, or social media messages offering exam help or claiming to be from NBEMS.
- Verify information: Cross-check any information received via SMS with the corresponding email or updates on the NBEMS website.
- Report scams: If you encounter suspicious activity, report it to NBEMS through their communication portal or to the local police.
Additionally, NBEMS does not send emails or SMS regarding exam scores nor offer assistance through “agents” or “touts.” Candidates are hereby advised not to be allured or mislead by these agents.
