National Medical Commission Takes Steps to Prevent Fake Permissions for Medical Colleges

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has taken action in response to reports of fake Letter of Permission (LoP) and Continuation of Recognition (CoR) being issued to medical colleges in the name of the President or Members of the Boards. The NMC has issued a public notice on its action on 4th September, 2023.

To curb such fraudulent activities, the NMC has introduced a new protocol for issuing LoPs, CoRs, and Appeal orders, which will now bear the digital signature of the concerned Member or President.

This change aims to enhance the authenticity and credibility of permissions and recognition granted to medical colleges across the country. Medical colleges are hereby informed that, going forward, only LoPs, CoRs, and Appeal orders issued by the concerned Board under the digital signature of the respective Member or President should be considered genuine and valid.

To implement this protocol effectively, the Dean or Principal of each medical college will bear the responsibility of recognizing and acting upon official communications in the specified format. Any letter or communication received in any other form should not be considered valid or authentic.
