The National Medical Commission (NMC) is creating a pool of qualified assessors to conduct inspections of medical colleges across India. This notice was issued on December 2, 2024.
This initiative, announced by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) on November 27, 2024, aims to ensure high-quality medical education by rigorously evaluating colleges against established standards.
The NMC is calling upon faculty members from government medical colleges who are eligible to become postgraduate (PG) guides to express their interest in joining the assessor pool. These faculty members possess extensive experience and expertise in various medical disciplines, making them well-suited to assess the academic infrastructure, faculty qualifications, student support systems, and overall functioning of medical colleges.
“The inspection of medical colleges is a crucial activity for us to ensure and enhance the quality of medical education in India,” stated the NMC in a recent public notice. By creating a robust assessor pool, the NMC seeks to maintain a consistent and rigorous approach to college evaluations.
How to Participate?
Faculty members in government medical colleges who fulfill the eligibility criteria (refer to Section 5 of TEQ – 22) are encouraged to express their interest through the Google Form.
This form will be shared by the Dean/Principal of each government medical college with their eligible faculty members. The NMC will utilize the information collected to create the assessor pool, which will be deployed for inspections starting in the academic year 2025-26.
With experienced faculty members acting as assessors, the NMC can ensure that future generations of medical professionals receive the best possible education.
