MoEL has declared the services of industries engaged in the production of mineral oil and diesel oil to be a public utility service.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment vide notification dated 19th February 2021 has declared that the services of the industries engaged in the manufacture or production of mineral oil (crude oil), motor and aviation spirit, diesel oil, kerosene oil, fuel oil, diverse hydrocarbon oils and their blends including synthetic fuels, lubricating oils which is covered under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to be a public utility service.

The Central Government has lastly declared the said industries to be public utility services for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from 28th August 2020. However, the Ministry has now further extended the period for another six months with effect from 28th February 2021, in the public interest.
