MoEL declares continuation of status of public utility service enjoyed by Motor Transport Industry.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment vide its notification dated 30th July 2021 has extended the public utility service status under item 1 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for the services in the Transport (other than railways) for the carriage of passengers or goods, by land or water which was previously declared as public utility service for a period of six months from 30th July 2021.

The Ministry has lastly declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 27th November 2021 and of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status, the ministry has further extended for another period of 6 months starting from 30th July 2021.
