The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change(MOEFCC) has published a Draft Environment (Protection) Amendment Rules, 2019 on 4th December 2019 to further amend the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986.
Key Highlights from the Amendment:
The Amendment is brought under Schedule 1 relating to standards for emission or discharge of environmental pollutants. The standards of emission for iron and steel plant has been substituted with new standards.
Further in Schedule-I, Rule 3 related to ‘Standard for Emission or Discharge of Environmental Pollutants from various Industries’, the entry at serial number 99 for Sponge Iron Plant (Rotatary Kiln) shall be deleted.
In case public has any objection or suggestions on the above draft rule, they may forward the same in writing within 60 days to the Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Jor Bagh Road, New Delhi-110003, or send it to Member Secretary.
