Ministry of Home Affairs directs states to strictly enforce night curfew

The Ministry of Home Affairs vide its order dated 21st May 2020 has directed states to ensure strict implementation of lockdown and night curfew protocols during lockdown 4.0 period.

Since the Ministry has noticed through “media reports and other sources” that there were violations at various places in the implementation of the MHA guidelines for lockdown 4.0, the ministry has directed all the authorities in the States/UTs to strictly implement the guidelines.

The night curfew has been mandated with a view to ensure that people observe social distancing and to contain the risk of spread of infection. Accordingly, local authorities have been directed to issue orders in the entirety of their jurisdiction, under proper provisions of law for the imposition of night curfew. Strict compliance of these orders should be ensured by the local authorities.
