Ministry of Education allows National Testing Agency (NTA) to perform Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis.

The Ministry of Education vide its notification dated 8th February 2022, has allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to perform Aadhaar authentication, on voluntary basis, for the following purposes in the Examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA):

  1. De-duplication of Applications from same candidate ;
  2.  Authentication of candidates ;
  3.  Prevention of impersonation/ proxy candidates ;

The National Testing Agency is an Indian government agency that has been approved by the Union Council of Ministers to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational institutions. The NTAs tests will be scientifically prepared based on rigorous research and will be of the highest quality so that the user institutions can make well informed decisions.
NTA will conduct research and design assessments for improving selections by fair, valid and reliable instruments, expanding teaching and learning opportunities and ushering in an era of scientific testing in the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) shall adhere to the Guidelines with respect to use of Aadhaar authentication as laid down by the Central Government.
