The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) has issued a notification that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) permits ‘Head of Family’ based online address update in the Aadhaar. The notification was issued on 3rd January, 2023.
The HoF-based online address update in Aadhaar is intended to help the relative(s) of a resident such as the children, spouse, parents, etc, who lack supporting documents in their own name to update their address in their Aadhaar.
The applicant is required to submit documentary proof of relationship such as a Ration Card, Marksheet, Marriage Certificate, Passport, etc.. The document should mention the names of both the applicant and HOF and the relationship between them.
In case even a Proof of Relationship document is not available, the resident can submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the UIDAI-prescribed format.
In the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal ( https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in ), a resident can choose this option while seeking to update their address online. Post successful validation of the Aadhaar number of HOF, the resident will be required to upload the Proof of Relationship document. The resident has to pay the fee of Rs. 50/- for the service.
