The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a reminder to medical colleges to submit details of stipends paid to interns and resident doctors. This reminder was published through a notice dated April 30, 2024.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had directed the NMC to collect stipend data for medical interns and residents. The NMC previously instructed colleges to submit stipend information for the 2023-24 financial year by April 23, 2024. All the Health Institutions/Medical Colleges were directed to submit the details of stipend paid to their UG interns, PG residents and senior residents or PGs in Super Specialty.
However, the NMC has observed that many colleges haven’t submitted the required data. Therefore, the NMC has emphasized that defaulting medical colleges shall submit these details in the prescribed format by May 2, 2024.
Colleges are advised to submit the details to stipend23-24@nmc.org.in
Additionally, starting with the 2024-25 financial year, medical colleges will be required to:
- Upload stipend details on their websites.
- Update this information monthly by the 5th of each month.
- Submit a complete annual statement to the NMC (stipend24-25@nmc.org.in).
The NMC warns of “strict action” against colleges that fail to comply with the deadline.
This data collection aims to ensure transparency and proper disbursement of stipends to medical interns and residents.
