The Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced a new initiative to enhance transparency in medical education. A public notice to this effect was issued on June 7, 2024.
The NMC will make details of all Medical Colleges running MBBS courses in India accessible to the public.
This information will be available on the National Medical Commission (NMC) website under the “Annual Declaration” tab for the academic year 2024-25 onwards.
The tab provides comprehensive details of all medical colleges including details on student admission, hospital, clinical load, births and deaths recorded, faculties, Operation Theatres (OTs) and community medicine.
This initiative seeks to enhance transparency in medical education. It also makes it easier for students and parents to be informed of different medical colleges running MBBS programs in the country. It also seeks to improve the quality of medical education by making colleges more accountable.
