Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods – Fish and Fish Products

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has notified the “Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Fish and Fish Products”. An Order dated 17th July, 2023 was issued to this effect and comes into immediate effect.

It may be recalled that the FSSAI had approved the Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Fish and Fish Products in its 42nd meeting held on 30th May, 2023.

The newly approved manual serves as a pivotal resource for testing and analyzing fish and fish products in laboratories across the country. It supersedes the previous test methods for Fish and Fish Products, which were specified under the “Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Meat and Meat Products & Fish and Fish Products” issued on 9th January, 2017.

The FSSAI continually strives to improve and update testing methods to keep pace with the dynamic nature of the food industry. Therefore, any future changes or updates to the test methods will be notified separately to all concerned stakeholders.
