Maharashtra PCB issues Standard Operating Procedure for carrying out inspection and for collection of joint vigilance samples to minimize the risk of the COVID-19

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Bard on 19th May 2020 has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP’s) for carrying out inspection and for collection of joint vigilance samples to minimize the risk of the COVID-19, applicable only to the current phase of COVID-19 pandemic in Maharashtra.

MPCB is granting Consents and Authorization to all such establishments covered under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution Act) 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

The Inspection is carried out through a Centralized randomized Inspection System, and in the case of Highly polluted industries and Industries located in CETP area are mandated to install an Online Monitoring system, these industries shall transmit their data to board server.

Further the Board has recently developed a compliance module and asked 17 Category and CAC/CC industries to submit daily data to the Board through this module. The data shall consist of the design and operational parameters of the pollution control system.

Physical inspection will be carried out in case of any order from Hon’ble NGT/Court order or any untoward incidents/industrial accidents or Application received to the Board for Consent to Establish, first Consent to Operate or for expansion of all red and orange category industries or in case any Complaint about illegal disposal of HW & BMW from industries/HCEs.
