Maharashtra – New Wages & Benefits for Security Personnel

On February 25th, 2025, the Government of Maharashtra issued a notification revising the Special Allowance/Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other related benefits for registered security guards and officers under the Security Guard Board in Kolhapur, Solapur, and Raigad. These revisions, which will be applicable from January 1, 2025, aim to provide better financial support for security personnel working in these districts.

Key Updates in Wages and Allowances:

  • Special Allowance/Dearness Allowance (DA) for security guards and officers has been revised to ₹3,614 per month for the period from January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) has been set at 20% of the Minimum Wages (Basic Wages + Special Allowance/DA) for the same period.
  • Other allowances such as Conveyance Allowance (C.A.), Washing Allowance (W.A.), and Leave Time Conveyance Allowance (LTCA) will remain unchanged.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Levy on Wages:
    • Employers are obligated to pay a 42.75% levy on the combined amount of Basic Wages + Special Allowance/DA.
    • A 3.25% levy is also applicable on House Rent Allowance (HRA), Leave Time Conveyance Allowance (LTCA), and Overtime Wages (OT).
  • Overtime Wages:
    • Overtime should be calculated at double the normal rate based on the Minimum Wages (Basic Wages + Special Allowance/DA).
  • Employer’s Responsibility:
    • All registered Principal Employers are required to remit the revised wages, allowances, and levy in respect of the registered security guards under their employment, as per the new rates.

These revisions aim to enhance the financial well-being of security guards in the region, aligning their wages with the revised minimum wage guidelines and ensuring they receive adequate support for their services.

Effective Date:

The revised wages and allowances will be effective from January 1, 2025, and are applicable for the period through June 30, 2025.
