Maharashtra Government Announces Public Holidays for 2025

The Government of Maharashtra has officially declared the public holidays for the year 2025 through a notification issued on December 4th, 2024. In line with the powers granted by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, these holidays are intended to provide citizens with designated days off throughout the year. The notification also includes special provisions for government offices and public sector undertakings, as well as a separate holiday for banks.

Additional Holiday for Government Offices:

In addition to the 24 public holidays, the Maharashtra Government has declared Bhaubeej on 23rd October, 2025 (Thursday) as an additional holiday for the following entities:

  • State Government Offices
  • State Public Sector Undertakings
  • Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats, Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Village Panchayats.

Special Holiday for Banks:

Banks in Maharashtra will observe a special holiday on 1st April 2025 (Tuesday), exclusively for the purpose of closing their yearly accounts. This holiday will not apply to government offices.
