The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) has issued a public notification regarding proposed amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code, 2021. These amendments, authorized under various sections of the Electricity Act 2003 and the Madhya Pradesh Vidyut Sudhar Adhiniyam, 2000, aim to refine and update existing regulations. This notification was published on June 13, 2024.
Key amendments include defining “metropolitan area,” clarifying provisions related to outstanding electricity dues, and specifying timelines for certain procedures. Additionally, changes in billing computations for group housing societies and updates to safety regulations are proposed.
Interested stakeholders are invited to review the draft regulations available on the MPERC website and submit their suggestions, objections, or comments by June 24, 2024. A public hearing is scheduled for June 25, 2024, allowing participation via video conferencing.
