The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAFPD) issued the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment (Amendment) Rules, 2023. The Amendment Rules seek to further amend the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. The notification was issued on 27th January, 2023 and shall be effective from that date.
These Amendment Rules provide for an extension in the date of Enforcement of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) (Amendment) Rules, 2022. The date of enforcement which was fixed on 1st February, 2023 has now been extended to 1st April, 2023.
Hence, the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities)(Amendment) Rules, 2022 will be enforced from 1st April, 2023.
