Labour Ministry extends public utility service status for industries engaged in service of any oil field.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment in its notification dated 7th July 2021 has extended the public utility status on industries engaged in services in any oil field, which is covered under items 17 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for a period of six months with effect from 7th July 2021.

The Ministry has lastly declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 12th October 2020 and of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status, the ministry has further extended for another period of 6 months starting from 7th July 2021.
