Jute Commissioner Sets Maximum Ex-Factory Price for Jute Bags for April 2025

The Jute Commissioner has announced the fixed maximum ex-factory price for 580gm “Type-A” and “Type-B” jute bags for the month of April 2025. This decision was notified on April 9, 2025 and aims to regulate the pricing of essential jute packaging materials.

The official notification specifies the following maximum ex-factory prices:

  • B-Twill Sacking (580 gms) (Without Linkage):
    • Type A: Rs. 109,621.00 per metric ton (MT) or Rs. 6,358.02 per 100 bags.
    • Type B: Rs. 109,621.00 per MT or Rs. 6,358.02 per 100 bags.

Bag Specifications

The pricing applies to jute bags of the following specifications:

  1. Size: 94cm x 57cm/HD.
  2. Mass per bag: 580 grams.
  3. Ends per dim, pecks per dm., as specified in BIS Specification IS: 16186:2014.
  4. Additional identification marking as per existing orders/instructions.

Mandatory Markings and Quality Standards

Each bag must be printed/marked with the emblem specified in the PCSO issued by the Office of the Jute Commissioner, Kolkata.

The name of the manufacturing mill and the BIS certification marking must also be printed on each bag.

The bags must meet the average minimum breaking strength as provided in the BIS specification IS: 16186:2014.

The prices fixed in this notification are exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). GST will be charged in addition to the ex-factory price by the purchaser.
