On the 22nd of November, 2024, the Government of Jharkhand issued a notification regarding the official holidays for the year 2025. This includes a clear outline of gazetted holidays, executive order holidays, and bank annual closing holidays.
Gazetted Holidays (Schedule-1)
The Governor of Jharkhand has declared a set of gazetted holidays for the year 2025, as outlined in Schedule-1 of the notification.
These holidays are mandatory for government offices and employees, providing official time off for state-recognized celebrations.
Executive Order Holidays (Schedule-2)
In addition to the gazetted holidays, the Governor has issued an executive order for additional holidays for government offices and revenue offices in the state. As mentioned in Schedule-2, all state government offices and revenue offices will remain closed on the specified dates throughout 2025.
These holidays are applicable to government employees and revenue-related services, ensuring that public sector operations align with the holiday calendar.
Bank Annual Closing Holiday (Schedule-3)
The Governor has also declared an official bank annual closing holiday for the entire state of Jharkhand, as detailed in Schedule-3. This holiday, which is specific to the banking sector, will affect all banks across the state, allowing them to close for the annual account closure process. However, it’s important to note that this holiday will not apply to government establishments or offices. Government offices will remain open, as they are not impacted by this specific banking holiday.
Important Notes to Keep in Mind
- Muslim Festival Holidays: The dates of holidays for Muslim festivals (such as Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, and Muharram) are subject to change depending on the sighting of the moon. This means that these holidays may vary from year to year based on the lunar calendar.
- Working Week System:
- The five-day working week system will continue to be in place for the Secretariat and attached offices under the Jharkhand State Government.
- The six-day working week system will remain in force for regional offices. This means that employees in these offices will continue to follow the traditional working week schedule.
- Bank Closure Exemption for Government Offices: As mentioned earlier, the annual closure of bank accounts for banks (as specified in Schedule-3) does not apply to government establishments or offices. Government operations will continue as usual on the bank holiday.
