Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his annual Independence Day address from the historic Red Fort, unveiled plans to significantly increase the number of ‘Jan Aushadhi Kendras’ from the current 10,000 to 25,000 across the country.
Highlighting the transformative impact of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, the Prime Minister emphasized their role in empowering the people, particularly the middle class. He cited the example of individuals grappling with medical conditions such as diabetes, where monthly medical bills could amount to Rs. 3000. However, through the government’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra initiative, medicines that might typically cost Rs. 100 are made available at a mere Rs. 10 to Rs. 15.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to making essential medicines affordable and accessible to all citizens. He expressed pride in the initiative’s success in providing cost-effective medical solutions, reducing financial burdens on households.
In addition to these announcements, the PM underscored the government’s focus on expanding the ‘Jan Aushadhi Kendra’ network to reach more communities. The goal of increasing the number of these subsidized medicine shops from 10,000 to 25,000 seeks to enhance healthcare accessibility for all.
