The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways vide notification dated 7th June, 2022 has issued the Inland Vessels (Fire Fighting Appliances) Rules, 2022. The amendment provides that any particular piece of equipment or machinery that the inland vessels shall be provided with or carried onboard shall be in accordance with a national or international standard such as the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) or the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
