Indian Nursing Council Seeks Public Input on New Nurse Practitioner Residency Programs

The Indian Nursing Council (INC) is seeking public comments on draft notifications for two new Nurse Practitioner (NP) residency programs. These draft notifications were issued on September 2, 2024.

These draft notifications cover the following Postgraduate Residency Programs:

  1. Nurse Practitioner in Family Health (NPFH) and
  2. Nurse Practitioner in Neonatal Nursing (NPNeoN)

These residency programs are designed to provide advanced training and education to registered nurses, preparing them to take on specialized roles in family health and neonatal care.

The draft notifications outline the curriculum, eligibility requirements, and program duration for each residency.

How to Submit Comments

The INC encourages the general public and stakeholders to review the draft notifications and submit their comments via email to secy.inc@gov.in within 20 days of this notice. Comments can address aspects such as curriculum content, training duration, or qualification requirements.

The INC’s initiative to introduce specialized NP residency programs demonstrates its commitment to advancing the role of nurses in the Indian healthcare system. Public participation can contribute to the success of these programs and ultimately improve patient access to essential health services.
