Important Update: Aadhaar Card No Longer Valid for Date of Birth Verification

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, recently announced changes regarding the use of Aadhaar cards for date of birth verification. In a letter dated March 14, 2024, it was stated that, due to new guidelines from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Aadhaar will no longer serve as acceptable proof of date of birth for insured persons (IPs) and their dependents. As a result, the prior directive issued on July 24, 2023, has been rescinded. This notification was published on July 29, 2024.

The ICT Division at headquarters has updated the application system to eliminate date of birth comparisons during the Aadhaar seeding process, effective July 23, 2024. Any previous discrepancies must be handled according to existing protocols.

Regional Directors, Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Medical Superintendents, and Deans are urged to share this information with their teams to ensure compliance. This notification is issued with the approval of the Insurance Commissioner (benefit).
