Pongal Festival: The main festival, Thai Pongal, will be celebrated on 14th January 2025 (Tuesday).
Additional Holidays: In addition to Pongal, 15th, 16th, 18th, and 19th January are already government holidays.
Intervening Holiday: 17th January 2025 (Friday) has been declared a holiday after requests from various sectors, allowing teachers, government employees, and students to return to their hometowns to celebrate.
Compensatory Workday: 25th January 2025 (Saturday) will be a working day to compensate for the holiday on 17th January.
This decision ensures that the people of Tamil Nadu, including government workers, educators, and students, can celebrate the festival with their families.
