The IIT Hyderabad Cluster has secured a 60 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) as part of the Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institutes (SATHI) scheme. It’s noteworthy that only three clusters have been chosen under this SATHI scheme call. The proposed IIT Hyderabad center, known as the Center for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (SATHI-CISCoM), will serve as the cornerstone for advanced characterization. This center will be the pioneering facility of its kind, enabling real-time characterization across multiple length scales for both fundamental and industrial R&D purposes. This endeavor aims to unite scientists from various scientific domains, including the physical sciences, chemistry, biology, and pharmaceutical studies, to tackle shared scientific objectives that necessitate such sophisticated microscopy techniques. Under the leadership of the Director of IIT Hyderabad and a team of researchers from the institution serving as Principal Investigators, the SATHI-CISCoM facility is backed by 15 academic, research, and industrial organizations to the tune of 16+ Crore, including the University of Hyderabad (UoH), Telangana State Council for Higher Education, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur, National Institute of Technology Raipur, National Institute of Technology Warangal, Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Sri Vishnu Educational Society Hyderabad, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT Hyderabad), LV Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad, Dr. Reddy’s Labs Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech Hyderabad, Amara Raja Group Tirupati, and TATA Steel.
