Himachal Pradesh Announces Holiday Schedule for 2025

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has officially released the list of holidays for the calendar year 2025, outlining various provisions for employees and specific groups.

1. Gazetted Holidays

The holidays listed in ANNEXURE I will be recognized as gazetted holidays for all government employees in the state. This means that these dates are officially designated as days off, allowing employees to plan personal and family activities without the worry of work obligations.

2. Restricted Holidays

In addition to the gazetted holidays, all government employees will have the option to take two ‘Restricted Holidays’ from those specified in ANNEXURE III. This flexibility allows employees to choose days that are significant to them, further personalizing their time off.

3. Special Holidays for Women Employees

Recognizing the contributions of women in the workforce, the holidays listed in ANNEXURE II are designated as gazetted holidays specifically for women employees across all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh. This provision extends to daily wage women employees as well, reinforcing the government’s commitment to gender equity in the workplace.

4. Local Holidays

The Deputy Commissioners of various districts have the authority to declare two local holidays based on important fairs and festivals in their areas. This ensures that local traditions and celebrations are respected and observed.

For offices within the municipal limits of Shimla, local holidays will be proposed by the Deputy Commissioner and approved by the state government. Meanwhile, in the rest of District Shimla, local holidays will be determined following established practices.

5. Provisions for Delhi Offices

For the Himachal Pradesh Government offices situated in Delhi, local holidays will also be decided based on proposals submitted by the Principal Resident Commissioner. This ensures that employees outside the state receive similar consideration for local festivities.

6. Additional Gazetted Holidays

Finally, the holidays listed in ANNEXURE IV are also recognized as gazetted holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, offering additional days off for employees.
