The Government of Haryana on January 27th 2025 , in light of the upcoming Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections, has issued a special notification for adult workers in factories across the state.
The notification provides workers with the opportunity to exercise their voting rights in the elections, which are scheduled for February 5, 2025 (Wednesday).
Key Highlights of the Notification:
- Date of Election: The General Election to the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will be held on February 5, 2025.
- Exemption for Workers: In accordance with Section 65 of the Factories Act, 1948, and under the powers vested in the Governor of Haryana, all adult workers employed in factories in Haryana, who are registered voters for the Delhi Legislative Assembly Election, are exempt from the provisions of Section 52(1)(a) of the Factories Act.
- Period of Exemption: The exemption applies for the week from February 2, 2025, to February 8, 2025.
- No Work on Election Day: Adult workers who are voters in the Delhi election will not be required to work on February 5, 2025, which is the polling day for the Delhi Legislative Assembly Election.
This exemption ensures that all eligible workers in Haryana who are voters in Delhi have a paid holiday on the election day, allowing them to participate in the democratic process without any work-related hindrances.
The move is in line with the government’s commitment to promoting voter participation and ensuring that workers can fulfill their civic duties without compromising their employment obligations.
