Haryana Government to Provide Health Services to Contractual Employees

The Haryana Government has declared that employees engaged in various departments under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited will now have access to health services through the Haryana Chirayu Yojana. This was published through a press release dated 16th October, 2023.

This initiative will extend the much-needed benefits of healthcare services to a substantial number of engaged contractual employees.

Moreover, the chief secretary of the Government of Haryana chaired a meeting, convened to deliberate on extending medical service benefits to employees affiliated with Urban Local Bodies. During the meeting he said that Urban Local Bodies employees who are not covered by the ESI scheme and receive a salary exceeding Rs 21,000 will now have access to medical services. Furthermore, in cases where employees engaged in Municipal Councils, Municipalities, and Municipal Corporations sustain injuries during their duty, the state government will bear the expenses for their treatment.

The chief secretary emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of employees, particularly those engaged in challenging roles such as sanitation workers, sewer workers, firemen, and fire brigade drivers. In the unfortunate event of sudden death, these employees are entitled to a Rs. 5 lakh insurance benefit under the Mukhyamantri Karamchari Durghatna Beema Yojana. Additionally, financial assistance of up to Rs. 3 lakh is given to employees on adhoc, daily wages, and contract.

The Chief Secretary said that the state government is considering providing health benefits to employees outside of the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited. Permission will soon be sought from the Chief Minister to ensure that all other such employees working in Urban Local Bodies and others in various departments can receive these health services.
