Prime Minister inaugurated the groundbreaking ‘Startup India’ initiative on January 16, 2016, with the aim of nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. Gujarat has once again clinched the prestigious title of the “Best Performing State” in startup rankings, reaffirming its commitment to fostering innovation. Chief Minister of Gujarat extended his heartfelt congratulations to the State Government’s Industries Department and the dynamic entrepreneurs who have significantly contributed to the thriving startup ecosystem, propelling Gujarat to this noteworthy achievement. The Union Minister for Industries and Commerce announced the results of the Startup Ranking-2022 on National Startup Day in New Delhi. This Notification was published on 16.01.2024.
The ‘Startup India’ campaign, envisioned by the Prime Minister, seeks to cultivate a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem, aligning with the vision of achieving ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India). This vision has propelled India to become the world’s largest startup hub, boasting over 1 lakh 17 thousand validated startups and 111 unicorn startups. Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) at the Central Government introduced a startup ranking framework for states in 2018, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across the nation. In line with this framework, DPIIT and Startup India recently assessed 33 states and Union Territories across 7 crucial reform areas, employing 25 action points for the 2022 ranking. Gujarat emerged as the Best Performing State for the fourth consecutive time, a testament to its unwavering commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. Senior officials from the Industries Department and Team Gujarat graciously accepted the award in New Delhi. Gujarat, a pioneer in launching the first Startup Policy in 2015, has nurtured a robust startup culture within the state, with over 9200 recognized startups. The state government has implemented various support measures, including the establishment of the ‘Gujarat Young Entrepreneurs Venture Fund’ with a substantial fund of 1 thousand crores. Furthermore, the government provides facilities such as sustenance allowance, infrastructure assistance, monitoring support, and marketing allowances to foster the growth of startups. Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister of Gujarat, the state government remains dedicated to enhancing the startup ecosystem by providing crucial incubation support to aspiring entrepreneurs through ‘iCreate.’ As a result of these proactive measures, Gujarat has secured the top spot in the ‘Startup Ranking’ for the fourth consecutive time.
